Cooling and treating the slag in a specially dedicated plant, (international patent), together with refractory crushing and very intense steel recycling, in order to be blown in the EAF instead of lime.

The economical advantages are important for three aspects:

• Complete recovery of steel
• Saving transport costs of watered slag and landfill
• Reduced quantity of lime.
